Match Report:

The weather was great for our round one clash with top of the table Dunbar Rovers. The boys were all pumped up for the contest. The first exchanges of the match were quiet even with the majority of the play centered in the middle part of the pitch. Dunbar finally broke down our defense in the 14th min a slotted home a goal, this was closely followed by a second a few minutes later. Dunbar was playing a very physical style and were constantly attacking the legs of our players with our midfielders copping particular attention. This aggression went unchecked by the officials making it hard for us to play out from the middle third of the pitch. Our boys were able to keep Dunbar out for the remainder of the half and hold them at 2-0.

The 2nd half started very similarly to the first with Magic trying desperately to claw a goal back with a couple of chances going close, unfortunately, Dunbar struck with a 3rd goal which really put our boys on their heels and we really struggled to get forward momentum during the final 3rd of the match. With only a few minutes remaining Dunbar were awarded a penalty that was spectacularly saved by our stand in keeper from the 13’s Lucas, only for the linesman to rule that Lucas moved to early in his attempt at making the save. All at the game ( both sides) thought this call was very harsh and robbed him of we deserved bragging rights.

The game ended with a 4-0 win to Dunbar our boys tried very hard in this match and the final score was not a true reflection of what was a tightly fought contest.
